Our Faith
We are a parish family following in the footsteps of Christ. We are a community of faith committed to worship, education and service to others while making God's love real all who live in our community.
A Call from God
The United States Catholic Catechism for Adults teaches us, that from the moment of Jesus' conception in the womb of Mary until his Resurrection, he was filled with the Holy Spirit. In biblical language, he was anointed by the Holy Spirit and thus established by God the Father as our high priest. As Risen Lord, he remains our high priest. . . . While all the baptized share in Christ's priesthood, the ministerial priesthood shares this through the Sacrament of Holy Orders in a special way.
Ordination to the priesthood is always a call and a gift from God. Christ reminded his Apostles that they needed to ask the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into the harvest. Those who seek priesthood respond generously to God's call using the words of the prophet, "Here I am, send me" (Is 6:8). This call from God can be recognized and understood from the daily signs that disclose his will to those in charge of discerning the vocation of the candidate.

We believe...
"Our profession of faith begins with God, for God is the First and the Last, the beginning and the end of everything. The Credo begins with God the Father, for the Father is the first divine person of the Most Holy Trinity; our Creed begins with the creation of heaven and earth, for creation is the beginning and the foundation of all God's works."
CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 198
Catholic belief is succinctly expressed in the profession of faith or credo called the Nicene Creed:
The Nicene Creed
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
Faith in Action at Our Parish
Our parish is supporting efforts at Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri in assisting those affected by the tornado in Jefferson City and surrounding counties.
Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri, an agency of our Diocese, is working with other agencies to ensure a coordinated and integrated network of support is provided to those affected. They are in need of volunteers to assist with making outreach phone calls to those households who are seeking assistance, creating case files, and providing referrals for immediate needs. Catholic Charities will provide full training and materials. Please contact Alissa Marlow, Director of Community Services for Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri, at 573-635-7719 or amarlow@cccnmo.org.
As was done in response to the 2017 floods, Catholic Charities is putting in place a process to assist those who have a very fragile safety net: people without insurance, who are not homeowners, on limited income, with disabilities, or whose livelihood has been impacted by the natural disaster. If you are interested in assisting in this effort, please consider donating to Catholic Charities’ Disaster Relief Fund. Every dollar will be used for direct assistance of people affected by the flooding and tornadoes.
Your support of others makes an impact. If you cannot volunteer hours to help community members, you may choose to give online.
